Twelve days in Umbria. Limited to 18 students/guests. At least
eleven medieaval Umbrian hilltowns to visit and photograph and paint.
A wonderful painting opportunity. A wonderful photographic opportunity.
I have arranged to rent the facilities of La Romita for April 19 -
April 30, 2009. La Romita is an old convent converted to a full service
artist retreat in Umbria, approximately one hour northeast of Rome.
This is something I have wanted to do for a long time, and I have finally
managed it. Here's what is included ... three meals a day, but I think
we will probably always ask for box lunches to go, full accommodations
except for wine and art supplies, a studio for working in the evenings
or during the day, a bus accessible 24 hours a day so that we can visit
the many wonderful hilltowns in Umbria and, finally, transportation to
and from the Rome airport.
And now consider the Umbrian towns, medieval, often offering winding
cobblestones streets, Etruscan and Roman arches, picturesque piazzas
and ancient palazzi; towns frequently surrounded by olive groves and
cypress trees. La Romita is surrounded by these towns and I'm planning
to visit them with you; towns include Spoleto and Assisi and Todi and
Montefalco and Perugia and Deruta and Bevagna and Trevi and Stroncone and
Orvieto and Tarquinia. And there are more towns begging to be painted.
What a trip.
The cost for eleven nights, twelve days, tuition, lodging (double
occupancy), three "gourmet" meals per day, 24 hour studio access, daily
bus travel to medieval hill towns of Umbria, and transportation to and
from the Rome airport is $2870.

I look forward to hearing from you.
